Today it was the last session. We finished the blog ( the conclusion) and we inserted photos.

During these MID sessions, we learnt about how to build and program an NXT robot. We also learnt a lot of things about origins and utility of robots in our world. Robots are very present in films, literature and in our real life.
Unfortunately our robot didn’t work. It was because we failed the construction of the robot

We like these MID sessions for the technical part of the work, build the NXT and program it. We also like the part about Literatures&Movies. Through this pfroject we progressed in english.
Article about chapter 5 of I robot, Isaac Assimov
Isaac Asimov was an American sci-fi writer. He was born in 1920 in Russia and he died in the USA in 1992. He wrote a book called I robot. That book inspired the film of Alex Proyas. The chapter 5 is named Liar. This chapter is about a robot “RB-34″,also named Herbie. He can read in human minds. Alfred Lanning, Peter Bogert and Milton Ashe are his designer and Susan Calvin is a robot-psychologist . The robot lies to Susan: he tells her that Milton Ashe love her. After Bogert go speak to the robot and same as Susan Herbie lies to Peter: he says him that Lanning has resigned so Bogert will be the next director. When Ashe says to Calvin that he will get married Susan get angry. She goes to speak with Herbie and she says to the robot that what he said is not true and he tell her he just want to help people. After Bogert and Lanning go speak with the robot and Lanning question the robot:”Have you talked to Dr Bogert about me ?”. After Susan asks him a lot of questions and Herbie become crazy. She asks him a same and last question and the robot dies.
Article about Star wars
The Star Wars world is inspired by lots of cinematographic work (serials,westerns,Japanese cinema) and also by litterature work( books of Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov and J.R.R Tolkien).
Star Wars takes place in the future in a faraway galaxy. It’s the story of the Skywalker family (Anakin Skywalker in episodes 1,2,3 and Luke Skywalker in episodes 4,5,6).There are two sides of the Jedi Force (the « good » side of the Force) and Siths (the dark side of the Foorce).Anakin Skywalker a little boy of Tatooine planet will become a jedi, the « chosen » : he had to restore the balance in the Force. He became a Jedi but Palpatine, emperor of Siths will change Anakin’s opinion and he will become a Sith. His son Luke Skywalker will become a Jedi and will fight the galactic empire …
Robots in Star Wars
Robots have a very important place in Star Wars. The most important ones are C3PO and R2-D2. C3PO is a protocol robot.
R2-D2, is a kind of robot which is in the movie Star Wars to play as a robot character. Usually it’s called R2 because it’s more easy to speak like that. R2-D2 is one of the roles which appeared in all the Star Wars movies,
C-3PO
This is a kind of robot which is used to translate the language for its owner and looks like a human.It is 167cm tall and always supports its owner.
DESTROYERDROID
it has a Protective shell which has no colour., it is very strong and is very eager to destroy other things. Also it can be dangerous.
NXT Presentation
We work with NXT robot and we chose a dancing humanoid. The robot moves its arms and its legs when he hears music.
During this class we finished all the articles for the blog. Lucas finished the article on Star Wars, the diary and the presentation of our group and of our NXT project. Nathan wrote the article about Chapter 5 of I robot novel by Issac Asimov.
We tried to program the robot but the program did not work. So we dismantled the robot to see what was the problem,. We found the problem: the construction of the robot was not good.So we had to rebuild the robot.
Yiyue continued the article about robots of star wars.
Presentation of the group
We are 4 students coming from LP2I (Lycée Pilote Innovant International). We are in 2nd B.Lucas is 15 years old. Mathieu is 15 years old. Nathan 14 years old. Yiyue is 15 years old. We live in Fontaine-Le-Comte and in Dissay.
Article about I robot
The scene takes place in the future. In a police station, one policeman, named Spooner wants to interrogate a robot, named Sonny. His superior doesn’t want to let him do that but finally he gives Spooner five minutes to question the robot. Spooner thinks the robot murdered doctor Lanning, his designer.
During the interrogation the robot have humans reactions and Spooner wants the robot to know he’s not a human. After a little time Sonny reacts like a human, he shows anger and he hits the table with his fists.
At that moment the robot tells everything he knows about the crime.
He says, he loves his designer and he can’t have killed him.
In this scene, we can think the robot is guilty or involved in the death of Doctor.
The author suggests robots can feel emotions and be like real humans and not simply machines.
In our opinion the idea of intelligent robots is not a good idea because robots wouldn’t serve humans and maybe can rebel.
Today Yiyue and Lucas continue the robot. They finish the legs and they fix the NXT brick on the legs.
Nathan an Mathieu finish the article on I robot and they start the article on Star Wars.
