Liar, de Isaac Asimov.

Isaac Asimov is an american author who was born in 1920 and died in 1992. He was really fond of science fiction and he wrote a lot of popular science books. The best known of his books is certainly I-Robot because this book inspired the famous movie I-Robot made by Alex Proyas in 2004.
It speaks about a robot, named Herbie, who can read in the human’s mind. The constructors try to understand how it can do that and where was the construction mistake. In the team there are Mr Alfred Lanning, Mr Peter Bogert, Mrs Milton Ashe and Mrs Susan Calvin. Lanning is the boss and the others are under his orders even if they don’t always like what is asked to them. They profit of the robot and ask him personal questions. But Herbie is programmed for don’t hurt human physically or in mind. So he tall them what they want to heard ant not the truth. In the end humans find that he lies to them and they make him crazy by a question.

At the first lesson of the NXT Project, we chose the robot that we had to do and we began to build it. In his program the robot had just to move and don’t hit obstacles around himself. It is named « Explorer » because it explores the world.

Here is the model we take to build our robot.

Here is Matthieu who starts to built the Robot.

The NXT Project by Racmlx

For the Interdisciplinairy Module about Robotics, we have to create a robot with the NXT Block. The NXT Block is a block used for programing robots in Lego.

With this block, we have to do a Robot in Lego.

First, we search  what robot we will built. After, we have to built the robot, and finally, we need to program the robots with a programming software.

For see all the building of the Robot step by step, look at the Racmlx Diary.

And to see the final version of our Robot, see the video:

During this class we finished all the articles for the blog. Lucas finished the article on Star Wars, the diary and the presentation of our group and of our NXT project. Nathan wrote the article about Chapter 5 of I robot novel by Issac Asimov.

Mis en avant

This blog presents the interdisciplinary project of the 2B class at LP2I (Lycée Pilote Innovant International) in Jaunay Clan (France). The theme is Robotics and students work on this project during Sciences of engineering, English and ICT lessons.

In the first part of this six months’ project students did some research on the history of robots and they learnt how to program a Lego NXT robot.

They recorded some radio shows on our school’s radio.

In the second part, students discovered the use of robots in movies (with two great cinematographic icons) and literature (they worked on a couple of Asimov’s stories). Meanwhile they built and programmed an NXT robot of their choice.

You can find in this blog students’ articles about their achievements.

This interdisciplinary project is a part of the “Industry & Robotics” Comenius project granted by Agence Europe-Education-Formation France. Students have the opportunity to work and to exchange with Comenius project’s partners from Italy, Spain and Malta.

Star Wars

The saga Star Wars, by Georges Lucas, was composed of three films between 1977 and 1983. But between 1999 and 2005, three other films were made. They are science fiction films and they are a lot of robots.

For example, there is C-3PO, a humanoid robot, his specialty is to translate every languages. He was created by Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi, when he was child.

R2-D2 is a little robot, but he is not humanoid. He assits the pilots and repairs flying ships. In the first episode, he belonged to Padme Amidala, the princess. In episodes 2 and 3, he belonged to Anakin Skywalker. And In episodes 4, 5 and 6, he belonged to the son of Anakin : Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars

In Star Wars, there are two teams, the first is the Jedi the good force of the power and the sith who are the the dark side of the power. Anakin who was from the good side of the power changed for the sith but he had a child who went to the good side of the power and at the end both will fight and in this fight Anakin told to his son Luke that he was his father. At the end the good side of the power won because Darth Vador killed the boss of the Siths.

In Star Wars, George Lucas ‘s movies, there are many different robots because it’s a movie of science fiction, it’s based on the future so George Lucas put robots everywhere to do everything that you can’t imagine. Now I will show you the different robots in Star Wars and the cyborgs

R2-D2 : A resourceful astromech droid, R2-D2 served Padmé Amidala, Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, he shows his braveful more than times and rescues his masters and their friends from many perils. A skilled starship mechanic and fighter pilot’s assistant, he formed an unlikely but enduring friendship with the droid C-3PO.

C-3PO : was created with waste of metal by Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine. He was created to help Anakin’s mother for house chores. Later he met his best robot friend R2-D2 when Anakin be the friend of Padmé Amidala

General Grievous : General Grievous is a brilliant military strategist who can’t be bothered with compassion or mercy. He is avery strong cyborg> ordre des mots : adj devant le nom with different fighting skills like with two light saber.

Darth Vader : is Anakin Skywalker but he went to the Sith team to gain the dark side force. Darth Vader was put in a black armor. The man was mortally hurted by a light saber in a duel, and the dark suit includes machinery who keeps Darth Vader alive.

In Star Wars there are droids too who are robots but they don’t have an imporant role. In the film there are many people who look like robots like Boba Fett or clone commander cody.
