The changes in St Marc La Lande since the 19th century
When I was young, my life in the village was more difficult than now. There used to be no running water, so we used to use a water pump.
At school, there used to be only boys, it was stricter than nowadays. On the place, there was a bakery and a grosser’s shop. Now, the shops are closed, so the village has been emptier since many years.
In the 13th century, many friars built the commandery.
In the 1987, young people rebuilt the commandery because it was in poor conditions.
Today, an association has organised many expositions into. I am the president of the association.
In 2005, eleven owners bought fields to create a natural reserve to preserve the rich ecological heritage. It’s the only natural reserve of the region, it’s really positive!
I’ve traveled in many countries like Benin or Portugal in my life, but I have never seen a village like St
Marc La Lande: it’s surely the most beautiful!
